‏Real Madrid take on FC Barcelona in La Liga in the 262nd El Clasico later on today.

With just two points between both sides in the table, this could be a game that has massive implications on the season.

This is a game that was once the most watched in the world, back when Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Xavi, Sergio Ramos, Andrés Iniesta, Iker Casillas and many more of the best players in the world faced off against each other.

After a lull, the El Clasico is now back.

With Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappe, Pedri and Jude Bellingham all playing in this fixture, there is once again a global interest in this game.

Prior to the game, Barcelona’s young star Yamal accused Los Blancos of “cheating” and “complaining” in a public interview.

“Of course! Yes, they cheat, they complain”, said Yamal during a King’s League broadcast.

This comment is likely to have angered the Madrid fanbase, and Yamal’s instagram story is unlikely to have lowered the tensions between the youngster and the Madridistas.

Speaking ahead of the game, Alonso had his say on Yamal’s comments yesterday.

He said: “I’m not going to get into that. There have been a lot of statements from people in Barcelona, and I can’t comment on them all.

“What matters to us is the pitch, where we’ve come from, and what lies ahead. That’s what we’ve been working on.
“It’s an important match… important enough.

“It has many ingredients for us to play well and enjoy it. That’s what excites us the most, the biggest incentive for tomorrow.”

The game kicks off at 15:15 GMT today and is one that should be another box office affair.
