Chelsea have received a significant boost in their pursuit of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott.
The Blues are looking to strengthen their midfield further as Xabi Alonso continues reshaping his squad ahead of the new season.
Chelsea have already completed several major deals this summer, including the British-record signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.
However, their recruitment work remains active as they explore another high-profile addition in midfield.
Scott has emerged as one of their leading targets after an excellent 2025–26 campaign with Bournemouth.
The 22-year-old made 37 Premier League appearances and played a key role as the Cherries secured a historic sixth-place finish.
Chelsea have already tested Bournemouth’s resolve with a substantial offer for the midfielder.
According to Standard Sport, Chelsea submitted a £64M bid for Scott, but Bournemouth rejected the proposal.
However, the report adds that Scott is keen to join Chelsea as the Blues continue pushing for his signature.
That stance represents a major boost for Chelsea, particularly because the midfielder has no plans to sign a new contract at Bournemouth.
Scott was first offered fresh terms in March, with Bournemouth initially confident they could convince him to extend his stay.
However, negotiations have since slowed considerably, and the midfielder is now keen to move on.
Chelsea are attempting to accelerate their pursuit before other interested clubs make formal approaches.
Arsenal and Manchester City have also been linked with Scott, although neither club has submitted an official offer.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth remain determined to keep the midfielder and continue to insist he is not for sale. For now, Bournemouth have rejected Chelsea’s opening move.
However, Scott’s desire to join the Blues gives Chelsea encouragement as they consider whether to return with an improved offer.
