The beautiful relationship that Alexander Isak and Newcastle United had last season has turned toxic. The reason is the player’s desire to play for Liverpool.
Last season, Mohamed Salah won the Premier League Golden Boot, and the second top scorer was Alexander Isak.
This summer, after parting ways with Luis Diaz, Liverpool wanted Isak to replace him. In fact, Liverpool wanted to sign Isak even before they let Luis Diaz leave.
Newcastle United were asking for a fee of around £150 million. Liverpool were ready to match that. However, the Magpies were still blocking the move as they rejected Liverpool’s bid.
That made Isak unhappy, and he decided not to play for Newcastle again. So, he stayed away from the preseason, and he has yet to feature in the Premier League this season.
Also, both Isak and Newcastle have made things public. So, both parties had a meeting on Monday at the residence of Alexander Isak.
A high-level official of Newcastle from Saudi Arabia was present in that meeting. And they spoke to Isak directly, keeping his agent aside.
According to indykaila News on X, during that meeting, Newcastle wanted to give Isak a new contract, which he rejected immediately.
After the meeting, the Saudi official informed Isak that the club will let him leave to Liverpool only if they get the right price.
But even before they consider selling him, Newcastle must find a replacement. Only after that, they will consider letting him leave for Liverpool.
With only a few days left in the transfer window, there will be some serious movements in the Alexander Isak to Liverpool transfer saga.
