This could turn out to be one of the most dramatic transfer sagas this summer.

Alexander Isak once in an interview spoke fondly about playing at Anfield. Also, Liverpool were hs favourite opponent and the club he respects.

This doesn’t mean he has no feelings for Newcastle United. He loves to wear the black and white of the Magpies.

However, after scoring 23 goals last season in the Premier League and finishing second in the Golden Boot race, Alexander Isak had a dream.

The Swedish international wanted to take the next step in his career. Although Newcastle qualified for the Champions League, he wanted to join a club to fight for major titles.

The truth is, Newcastle are far from challenging for the Premier League and Champions League.

That is why he wanted to join a club where he could win major tournaments.

Arsenal wanted to sign him, but Newcastle were not ready to sell their star man. So, they moved on to Viktor Gyokeres.

Apart from Arsenal, Liverpool had a strong interest. In fact, they were ready to smash the transfer record to sign the player.

And, Alexander Isak was ready to move to Anfield. But Newcastle were adamant. Alexander Isak is not for sale.

Also, Newcastle were looking at Hugo Ekitike, but after facing rejection for Isak, Liverpool went and agreed personal terms with the French star.

But Eddie Howe and his team are actively looking for another striker.

Meanwhile, a report from Santi Aouna from Foot Mercato suggests that Alexander Isak has given the green light to a move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal.

Also, Newcastle United are also open to the switch, reportedly. It is quite a surprising turn of events given the stance Newcastle showed when Liverpool came in for the player.

It will be interesting to follow this Alexander Isak to Al-Hilal transfer saga as both clubs are under the Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).
