Arsenal eyeing move for French striker in January

Arsenal were ahead of Tottenham because they were prepared to spend a larger fee.

Arsenal could return to the transfer market for another forward when the January window opens.

Mikel Arteta’s side reshaped their attacking options during the summer following several departures from the Emirates Stadium.

Gabriel Martinelli joined Al-Hilal for £60 million, while Gabriel Jesus moved to Barcelona. Leandro Trossard also completed a move to Besiktas.

Christos Tzolis arrived from Club Brugge as Arsenal’s only attacking addition during the window.

The Gunners had also pursued Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, but that proposed move did not materialise before the deadline.

Arsenal could now revisit another target after previously showing interest during the summer transfer window.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal are plotting a new January move for Bournemouth striker Eli Junior Kroupi.

The French youth international scored 13 goals across 33 Premier League appearances last season as Bournemouth qualified for the Europa League.

His tally also set a new record for the most goals scored by a teenager during a single Premier League season.

Arsenal considered Kroupi during the summer, while Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain were also linked with the forward.

However, Bournemouth have no plans to sell him midway through the current campaign.

The Cherries demanded more than £80 million for Kroupi during the summer and are expected to seek a similar amount in January.

A fractured metatarsal also prevented a potential summer transfer. Kroupi underwent successful surgery and could remain sidelined until late October.

Previously, Arsenal were ahead of Tottenham because they were ready to spend a larger fee.

However, Bournemouth’s current position means Arsenal could struggle to complete a January deal despite their renewed interest.

The Gunners may therefore have to wait until next summer if Bournemouth maintain their stance over Kroupi during the winter window.
