Arsenal join Chelsea and Manchester City in race for former Aston Villa star

The forward remains open to another Premier League opportunity.

Arsenal have started their Premier League title defence perfectly after strengthening Mikel Arteta’s squad considerably during the summer.

The Gunners have won their opening four league matches, including victories over Chelsea, Coventry City and Sunderland.

Their summer recruitment included Bruno Guimaraes, Ezri Konsa, Christos Tzolis and Illan Meslier, while Piero Hincapie completed a permanent move.

Manchester City have also collected maximum points from their opening four matches after making several additions during the transfer window.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have endured a more difficult start despite adding Morgan Rogers, Joao Pedro, Jorrel Hato and other reinforcements.

The three clubs could now compete away from the pitch as they assess another potential attacking addition.

According to Hooligan Soccer, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City are monitoring Roma forward Donyell Malen ahead of the January transfer window.

Arsenal have already established informal contact to determine the 27-year-old’s position and his demands regarding a possible move.

However, the Gunners have not submitted a formal proposal for the Netherlands international at this stage.

Chelsea continue to compile reports on Malen, while Manchester City have also retained the versatile attacker on their recruitment list.

Malen previously played in England with Aston Villa but believes that spell failed to demonstrate his capabilities, according to the report.

The forward remains open to another Premier League opportunity despite completing a permanent move to Roma on July 1.

His current contract with the Serie A club runs until June 2030, giving Roma considerable control over any negotiations.

Roma currently have no desire to sell Malen midway through the campaign after recently securing him on a long-term agreement.

However, the report claims they could consider a winter departure if an acceptable financial package arrives.

Roma value Malen at approximately €60 million to €65 million and would seek guaranteed money alongside performance-related add-ons and a sell-on clause.
