Arsenal set sights on LaLiga defender

Arsenal are continuing their assessment before deciding whether to make an approach in a future transfer window.

Arsenal have started the 2026/27 season with a settled core after another active summer transfer window.

Mikel Arteta’s side opened the campaign by beating Manchester City 3-0 in the FA Community Shield.

The Gunners then defeated Coventry City, Aston Villa, and Chelsea before beginning their Champions League campaign against Napoli.

Arsenal also strengthened several areas of the squad during the summer. Bruno Guimaraes arrived from Newcastle United for £75 million, while Ezri Konsa joined from Aston Villa.

The club also completed Piero Hincapie’s permanent move from Bayer Leverkusen and signed Illan Meslier on a free transfer.

Christos Tzolis added another attacking option following the departures of Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard.

Despite those defensive additions, Arsenal continue to assess possible reinforcements ahead of future transfer windows.

According to Ficherio, Arsenal are monitoring Sevilla centre-back Kike Salas and recently sent scouts to watch him.

The 24-year-old has attracted attention after establishing himself as an important player for the Spanish club.

Arsenal representatives watched Salas during Sevilla’s recent draw against Espanyol as they gathered further information on the defender.

Fulham also sent scouts to the same match and continue to monitor his development. However, neither Premier League club has made a formal offer for Salas at this stage.

The defender remains under contract with Sevilla until 2029. That agreement leaves the LaLiga club under little pressure to sanction a transfer in the immediate future.

Sevilla also regard Salas as an important member of their squad and would demand a significant fee before considering a sale.

Arsenal already have several central defensive options available to Arteta following their recent recruitment.

Any move for Salas would therefore add further competition rather than address an immediate shortage.

For now, Arsenal are continuing their assessment before deciding whether to make an approach in a future transfer window.
