Arsenal star set to join Borussia Dortmund on deadline day

Arsenal are preparing to sanction another departure.

Arsenal are preparing to sanction another departure as Mikel Arteta continues reshaping his squad during the final hours of the window.

The Gunners have already completed several major signings, including Bruno Guimaraes, Ezri Konsa and Christos Tzolis.

Piero Hincapie has also joined permanently, while Illan Meslier arrived to strengthen Arsenal’s goalkeeping options.

Attention has increasingly shifted towards departures as Arsenal adjust their attacking group before the deadline.

Gabriel Martinelli is nearing a move to Al-Hilal, while Gabriel Jesus is finalising his transfer to Barcelona.

Arsenal are also pursuing further attacking reinforcements, with Malick Fofana and Julian Alvarez among the players linked.

Another significant decision has now been made involving one of the club’s highly-rated young attackers.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Ethan Nwaneri has agreed to join Borussia Dortmund on a season-long loan.

The move is expected to be completed on deadline day, with Dortmund covering the entirety of Nwaneri’s wages.

Arsenal have rejected Dortmund’s desire to include an option that could make the transfer permanent.

The Gunners continue to view the 19-year-old as an important part of their long-term plans at the Emirates Stadium.

Nwaneri spent last season on loan at Marseille, where he made 11 appearances across all competitions.

He scored twice and provided one assist during his spell in France before returning to Arsenal.

RB Leipzig, Napoli and Lyon also showed serious interest in the attacker during the summer.

Dortmund have now won the race, with their need for another attacking option increasing after Giannis Konstantelias suffered an ACL injury.

The German club had already been pursuing Nwaneri before that setback and have now moved towards completing the agreement.

Arsenal believe another loan can provide regular first-team football while preserving Nwaneri’s long-term future in north London.
