Aston Villa had a disappointing opening game performance against Newcastle United yesterday afternoon.

In the early kickoff, they were second best as the game ended 0-0.

However, with Ezri Konsa given a straight red card in the second half, a draw is perhaps not the worst result in the world for Villa.

With a season to look forward to in Europe once again, there is a lot of be excited about for Villa fans.

In their first back-to-back seasons playing in Europe, Villa felt harshly done by a decision to rule out a Morgan Rogers goal at Old Trafford on the final day.

This is a goal that would have seen them potentially get a draw and secure Champions League football over Newcastle.

With a UEFA Europa League specialist in manager Unai Emery, who has won the competition four times and lost an additional final, perhaps being in this competition is a good thing for the club.

They will want to perform better than yesterday if they want to win the Europa League or even just qualify for Europe next season.

One player was not in the match day squad yesterday and could bet set for a move away from the Premier League.

However, in the four seasons he has had the club, he has only had more than five goals once.

This came in the 2023/24 season, where he netted 14 goals in 52 games, including 10 in the Premier League.

Despite this, he has been underwhelming for the majority of his time in England.

A move to Serie A side Roma looks set to take place, with an initial loan deal reported.

The loan move will cost Roma €2 million, with an option to buy of €23 million.
