It was a pretty underwhelming start to the season for Aston Villa, who could only draw 0-0 at home to a Newcastle United side missing Alexander Isak.
Although the red card for Ezri Konsa made the point look better, they weren’t playing well before that.
Many Villa fans have suggested they need more additions if they are to achieve a top five finish.
Well, there is at least one player they have their eyes on.
According to Matt Law of The Telegraph, Villa are exploring a deal for Nicolas Jackson.
The striker is unwanted by Enzo Maresca after the signings of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.
Despite that, their price tag has been putting potential suitors off.
In fact, this report suggests it will be too much for Villa unless they change their demands.
However, Unai Emery worked with the forward at Villarreal, and hopes a deal can be structured.
Interestingly, Emery used Jackson as a winger during their time in Spain.
So, perhaps he could play alongside Ollie Watkins if they were to reunite in the West Midlands.
Despite selling Jacob Ramsey, and Leon Bailey being close to a move, PSR means Villa cannot spend huge amounts of money.
So, a deal would take a lot of negotiating and discussing – but, don’t ask, don’t get.
