Aston Villa set to sign Morgan Rogers replacement from Chelsea

Villa are trying to structure a deal that would initially bring the player to the club on loan.

Aston Villa are moving quickly to reshape their attack following the departure of one of their most important players.

The Villans agreed to sell Morgan Rogers to Chelsea in a British-record deal worth up to £117M.

His departure leaves a significant gap in Unai Emery’s attack after Villa secured Champions League qualification and won the UEFA Europa League last season.

However, Villa have already started working on bringing in a replacement before the new campaign begins.

The Midlands club are looking towards Chelsea as they attempt to add another attacking option to Emery’s squad.

Rather than pursuing an immediate permanent transfer, Villa are trying to structure a deal that would initially bring the player to the club on loan.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa have submitted an official bid to sign Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho after opening talks last week.

The proposal involves an initial season-long loan with a buy clause included in the agreement.

Moreover, Emery has approved the 22-year-old as one of his priority targets following Rogers’ move in the opposite direction.

However, Garnacho is not being included as part of a direct swap involving the England international.

Instead, Villa are pursuing a separate agreement. They view the Argentine winger as a player capable of filling the attacking void left by Rogers.

Meanwhile, discussions with Garnacho’s representatives are continuing as Chelsea consider Villa’s proposal.

The winger only joined Chelsea from Manchester United last summer but struggled to establish himself as a consistent starter.

He made 43 appearances across all competitions during the 2025–26 campaign, scoring eight goals and providing four assists.

However, Garnacho has now slipped down the pecking order and faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea reportedly value the winger at around £43 million if they sanction a permanent transfer, while AS Roma have also shown interest.
