It has been a very difficult start to the season for Aston Villa.
On the opening day, they were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Newcastle United.
Then, they lost 1-0 to relegation tipped Brentford in a seriously dire and lacklustre display.
Furthermore, Morgan Rogers has been linked with a move away from the club.
However, they have been linked with a potentially exciting incoming.
As per The Daily Mail, Villa have shown an interest in Lucas Paqueta of West Ham United.
The Brazilian midfielder has recently seen his spot fixing charges dropped.
As a result, many have hoped he will be able to get back to the player he was before all of that noise.
Although they lost 5-1 at home to Chelsea, Paqueta opened the scoring with a sublime goal from outside the box.
He has shown the player he can be at West Ham, Lyon and the Brazilian national team in the past.
Without the charges looming over him anymore, there is a good chance he will get back to his best.
That said, it feels like Villa need a winger a lot more than this.
They have several attacking midfielder types, but are seriously lacking width.
In the last 12 months, both Moussa Diaby and now Leon Bailey have both left the club.
During the defeat at Brentford, Rogers and John McGinn played out wide.
Neither of those two – particularly McGinn – are wingers.
Perhaps this link does mean that Rogers is on the way out.
Let’s see.
