Barcelona will have their presidential election in the coming weeks. So, many things can change at Camp Nou depending on who assumes the chair.

Meanwhile, their former manager, Xavi Hernandez, has dropped a bombshell interview about the time when Barcelona was close to securing the return of Lionel Messi.

So, that interview could have an impact on the outcome of their presidential election.  Similarly, their transfer plans could also hinge on the result of that election.

Now, the Catalan giants cannot wait for their election to conclude and then start picking their summer transfer targets. One thing is for sure: they are suffering from a financial crisis.

And this has been going on for a very long time. So, they are primarily looking at the free agents next summer.

Also, they will be looking at players who will have just a year left on their contract next summer. That is why they have now included a Manchester City star as their target for next summer.

According to an X account (@RealTolmie), Barcelona will be eyeing a move for Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden.

The Citizens are trying to extend his deal beyond June 2027. However, they are yet to reach a breakthrough in negotiations.

This will encourage many European clubs, including Barcelona, as they believe Foden is an outstanding talent.

Manchester City will do their best to keep their academy talent. However, Barcelona will be hoping that they can secure Foden at a cut price due to the length of his current contract.
