Barcelona have taken a clear stance on their plans to replace Robert Lewandowski. They have many strikers in their plans. However, they are not thinking about signing some of them.
The Catalan giants are already moving away from their interest in two AC Milan forwards, Christopher Nkunku and Santiago Gimenez.
Now, they have cooled their interest in another Serie A striker that was among the top names on their list.
Earlier in the summer, Barcelona discussed Dusan Vlahovic internally as a possible long-term successor to Lewandowski.
The Catalan club are aware that Lewandowski is entering the final stages of his career.
However, according to a report from Diario SPORT, Barcelona have now cooled their interest completely.
Concerns over Vlahovic’s performances this season have played a decisive role in that decision.
The Serbian forward has managed just six goals in 17 appearances for Juventus and has also suffered an injury that is expected to sideline him for around three months.
Those factors have raised serious doubts within Barcelona about whether Vlahovic can deliver the consistency required at the highest level.
There is also scrutiny on his overall record in Turin. His 64 goals in close to 200 competitive matches have failed to convince club officials.
With Vlahovic ruled out, Barcelona will continue to monitor the market closely as they search for the right profile to eventually lead the line after Lewandowski.
🚨 Barcelona have cooled their interest in Serbia striker Dušan Vlahović with the 25-year-old now more likely to join AC Milan from Juventus instead.
