Barcelona reject Hansi Flick’s transfer target

But despite all that success, not every one of his requests has been accepted.

Hansi Flick helped Barcelona win it all last season.

La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Supercopa, every major trophy in Spain ended up in their cabinet.

The German coach did what many thought was impossible with a young squad and limited budget.

But despite all that success, not every one of his requests has been accepted.

This summer, Flick had one target in mind. A player he knows well, someone with experience.

Someone who could fill in across multiple attacking roles.

The idea made sense from a tactical point of view.

A player who just finished a solid season in the Eredivisie.

One who had managed 16 goals and 11 assists at PSV. Not bad for someone in their mid-30s.

Flick liked the idea. The coaching staff did too. Even early talks were held.

The player’s contract was ending on June 30, so financially, it would have been a bargain.

But the club had other plans.

Barcelona’s sporting directors had their eyes on someone else, a younger, faster, and more explosive option.

One who could grow into the role and potentially lead the attack for years to come.

That player was Nico Williams. And with his release clause becoming active in July, the club felt it was time to go all-in.

So, Ivan Perisic will not be joining the Catalan giants.

As reported by Futbol Fantasy, Barcelona have walked away from the deal.

Instead, the Croatian is now expected to renew his contract with PSV for two more years.

His chapter at the Camp Nou will not be written.

For Barcelona, the choice was clear. They want long-term potential over short-term cover.

And while the manager might be disappointed, the board is convinced they are betting on the future.
