Barcelona enter the new campaign after winning their second consecutive La Liga title under Hansi Flick last season.
The Catalan giants also lifted the Supercopa de Espana but fell short in the Copa del Rey and Champions League.
They have continued strengthening this summer, with Rodri completing a €76.5 million move from Manchester City.
Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi have also arrived, while Ferran Torres and Robert Lewandowski departed the club.
However, Barcelona are already planning beyond the upcoming campaign as they consider the long-term structure of their goalkeeping department.
Joan Garcia remains their first-choice option, while Wojciech Szczesny’s current contract expires in June 2027.
That situation has encouraged Barcelona to pursue another goalkeeper who could eventually become Garcia’s deputy.
According to IndexHR (via SPORT), Barcelona and Fenerbahce have reached an agreement for Dominik Livakovic.
The proposed transfer would cost approximately €3 million plus variables, although SPORT reports that negotiations remain very advanced rather than completely finalised.
Barcelona’s initial plan would see the Croatia international join before spending the upcoming season on loan at Dinamo Zagreb.
Livakovic would then return to Barcelona in 2027 and take Szczesny’s place as the club’s second-choice goalkeeper.
However, Barcelona have not completely settled the goalkeeper’s immediate future despite progressing significantly with Fenerbahce.
Another loan destination remains possible, while Livakovic could even join Flick’s first-team squad immediately if Barcelona can register him within their salary limit.
His representative, Andy Bara, has played an important role in developing a formula that could satisfy everyone involved.
Barcelona’s sporting department also took encouragement from Livakovic’s performances at the World Cup when assessing the potential transfer.
The goalkeeper previously spent time in Spain with Girona on loan but left without making a competitive appearance.
Barcelona now hope to secure Livakovic ahead of Szczesny’s expected departure in 2027 as they continue planning for the future.
