The 24/25 season was an incredibly successful campaign for FC Barcelona.

Hansi Flick’s side won a domestic treble – La Liga, Copa Del Rey, and the Supercopa.

This was made even sweeter by the fact they beat arch nemesis Real Madrid to win all three competitions.

We saw Raphinha have the best season of his career, and Lamine Yamal produce performances way beyond his years.

Elsewhere, Pedri managed to shake off his injury woes and remind everyone just how good he is.

One other player who had a standout season was Inigo Martinez.

With Pau Cubarsi still a teenager, Andreas Christensen injured, and Ronaldo Araujo error prone, Flick needed someone to step up.

Safe to say, that is exactly what Martinez did. His experience in the backline was key to what Barcelona did so well.

Both will his defending and ball playing capabilities, the 34-year old was one of the best defenders in Europe.

However, he may no longer be eligible for that tag.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Martinez could leave Barcelona with immediate effect.

He reports that both the club and player are discussing terms for a possible exit.

Furthermore, he states (via Matteo Moretto) that Saudi Pro League clubs are interested, with Al Nassr keen on the player.

This would be a big loss for Barcelona, with the Spaniard being so key to their success last season.

That said, with Saudi sides interested – they may be able to get a fee too good to turn down for someone of his age.

Particularly with the well documented economic issues the club have had – an offer may have to be accepted.

We have seen several top players go to Saudi Arabia over the past couple of years, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down.

Let’s see what happens here. One to keep an eye on for sure.
