With a 3-0 win away to Mallorca, Barcelona’s season could not have got off to a better start.

Raphinha showed he is no one season wonder, and Lamine Yamal scored in his first official game with the number ten.

Whilst Joan Garcia kept a clean sheet on his debut.

Nevertheless, fans are still hoping for more incomings – particularly after Inigo Martinez departed the club.

However, it looks like there is going to be a departure before the next incoming.

Marca are reporting that Barcelona have reached an agreement with Oriol Romeu to terminate his contract.

The midfielder joined the club from Girona in the summer of 2023, but made just 11 La Liga starts that season.

One year later, he rejoined Girona on loan, with a fine but unremarkable second spell at the club.

He had just 10 months remaining on his contract in Catalonia.

In their report, Marca state that Romeu’s contract termination will allow the club to register Gerard Martin.

The left-back was not able to play in the aforementioned league opener against Mallorca due to registration issues.

However, with Romeu gone, Hansi Flick’s side will be able to register the 23-year old and play him as they wish.

Maybe we will see a return to Southampton – Romeu spent seven years on the South Coast before joining Girona.

That is if he willing to play second tier football, of course.
