Bayern Munich have started the 2026–27 campaign strongly as Vincent Kompany continues shaping his squad in Germany.
The Bundesliga champions opened their DFB-Pokal campaign with a 4-1 victory over VfL Osnabruck before drawing with Schalke.
They responded by beating SV Elversberg 2-1 and then defeated Bodo/Glimt 5-0 in the Champions League.
Bayern also strengthened Kompany’s options during the summer, with Ismael Saibari and Nathaniel Brown among their major arrivals.
However, the club are already considering their longer-term attacking options despite Harry Kane remaining central to Kompany’s plans.
The England striker scored 61 goals across 51 appearances during the 2025–26 campaign and has continued his strong form this season.
Bayern have also entered another round of contract discussions with Kane, whose existing agreement expires in 2027.
The German club want to retain their leading striker, but they are also assessing possible options for the future.
According to talkSPORT, Bayern could consider Newcastle United forward Nick Woltemade as a potential long-term successor to Kane.
The 24-year-old remains contracted to Newcastle but joined Juventus on a season-long loan on deadline day.
Woltemade moved to Newcastle from Stuttgart in 2025 before enduring a mixed first campaign in English football.
He scored 11 goals during that season, although his form declined after December as regular starting opportunities became harder to secure.
The Germany international subsequently moved to Juventus for the 2026–27 season, with the temporary agreement containing no purchase option or obligation.
Bayern had already shown interest in Woltemade before his move from Stuttgart to Newcastle.
A future pursuit could therefore revive their previous interest as the club gradually considers life beyond Kane.
However, Kane’s Bayern future remains unresolved rather than approaching an immediate conclusion.
The 33-year-old remains under contract until 2027, while discussions over extending his stay have progressed positively.
Woltemade, meanwhile, remains tied to Newcastle until 2031 and will spend the current campaign attempting to establish himself at Juventus.
