During Bayern Munich’s defeat to PSG last month, Thomas Müller made his 756th and final appearance for the club.

Despite wanting to continue at Bayern, the club decided they would not be extending his contract after 25 years in Bavaria.

Given that Müller wanted to continue playing, it felt unlikely that he would retire just yet.

He is five years younger than Thiago Silva who played at the Club World Cup after all.

In fact, he is nine years younger than Silva’s Fluminense team mate Fabio.

Over the last couple of months, there has been a lot of noise regarding an MLS move.

Well, it seems like that is now coming to fruition.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Müller is set to join Canadian side Vancouver Whitecaps.

Romano reports that the 35-year old will sign a two year contract with the Whitecaps.

As it stands, his new side are the second seed in the MLS Western Conference.

They could even be the first seed, should they win their game in hand on San Diego FC.

So, a pretty exciting project for a legend of the game.

One player who will be especially excited about this move is Alphonso Davies.

The Bayern left-back joined the Whitecaps in 2015 and made 65 MLS appearances before joining Die Roten in early 2019.

You’d imagine that Müller would have asked Davies about the club before making his decision.

It will feel really weird seeing him in any other kit aside from Bayern or Germany, but it is good to see he feels like he still has something to offer the game.

The Bayern legend joins Sergio Busquets, Hugo Lloris, Rodrigo de Paul and Lionel Messi as World Cup winners currently playing in the MLS.
