It has been a strong start to the transfer window for Real Madrid.
In just a few weeks, they have completed three key signings.
The arrivals of Dean Huijsen, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Franco Mastantuono have given fans plenty to be excited about.
Madrid’s sporting project looks sharp, ambitious, and well-planned under Xabi Alonso.
But not every deal is running smoothly. One target, expected to join weeks ago, is still waiting.
Alvaro Carreras, a promising full-back with a big future already had an agreement with the club.
Reports in Spain suggested that his signing was almost done.
And he would be part of the squad for the upcoming Club World Cup.
The 22-year-old defender has been one of Benfica’s standout performers.
With pace, strength, and sharp positioning, he caught Real Madrid’s attention early this year.
A deal with the player was reached quickly.
But the negotiations with his club have been anything but simple.
According to Foot Mercato, Benfica are standing their ground.
Madrid have already submitted several offers, the most recent just over €40 million.
However, the Portuguese side are asking for the full €50 million release clause.
And not just that they want it paid in full, upfront, without any add-ons or instalments.
So far, every attempt from Madrid to break that demand has been denied.
Benfica, led by president Rui Costa, feel no pressure to sell.
They believe they are in a strong position and will not move unless Madrid meet their terms.
Now, the deal is moving nowhere. Madrid are still hopeful that persistence will pay off.
But this one could stretch deeper into the summer than they had expected.
Alvaro Carreras, the former Manchester United player, dreams to play for Real Madrid.
So, he will be pushing for this deal to go through.
It will be interesting to see how long this Alvaro Carreras to Real Madrid transfer saga stretches.
