Borussia Dortmund are now preparing for a big decision in the summer transfer window. Nico Schlotterbeck has made it clear that he is not planning to extend his contract beyond 2027.
Real Madrid are heavily linked with the player who could become a leader at Santiago Bernabeu. His contract will expire in 2027. However, Madrid are eyeing a move for him next summer.
The Los Blancos will have significant changes at the backline next season. Players like David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger could leave the club.
As a result, they need to make sure they are identifying the right replacements next summer. And that is why they have Nico Schlotterbeck at the top of their list.
Recently, Madrid lost Marc Guehi to Manchester City. As a result, Schlotterbeck is now the priority target for the Los Blancos.
Also, they had the likes of Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konate on their list. But they decided not pursue those deals. Upamecano could extend his stay at Bayern.
And for Konate, Real Madrid feel that the Frenchman may not be the right signing for them at the current situation.
And because of that, Dortmund know that the coming months could be the right moment to cash in. The German club have now set their valuation.
Real Madrid are very much interested in signing the player. However, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are still monitoring the player.
That is why the Los Blancos are ready to go all-out on Nico Schlotterbeck. And now, they know the price Borussia Dortmund might ask for the defender.
According to Fichajes, Dortmund will ask for around €65 million to part ways with the 26-year-old centre-back.
Despite competition from Bayern Munich and Barcelona, Madrid appear to hold a slight advantage. Schlotterbeck wants the move, as the appeal of a leading role at the Bernabeu is difficult to ignore.
