Borussia Dortmund have finally let one of their strikers leave the club to an Eredivise side.
The German club are looking to build a good squad that can challenge Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga.
In recent years, Bayer Leverkusen emerged as a prime challenger to Bayern’s throne. However, before Leverkusen, Dortmund were the fiercest rivals of Bayern.
The game between Dortmund and Bayern are known as the Der Klassiker (the Classic), although many people dispute this game as a derby.
But the downfall of Borussia Dortmund last year was shocking. However, they recovered in time to qualify for the Champions League.
Now, Niko Kovac is looking to build a strong squad that can challenge for the biggest trophies in both Germany and Europe.
For that, he needed to sell players who are not in his plans. That is why he has sanctioned the move of a striker who joined an Eredivise side on a permanent deal.
Now, the Eredivisie side have officially announced the signing of the Borussia Dortmund striker.
Yes, Sebastien Haller has joined FC Utrecht from Borussia Dortmund on a one-year contract. The move is permanent, and his contract will be valid till 2026.
Sebastien Haller also played for West Ham United in the Premier League, as he scored 14 goals in 54 appearances.
From West Ham, Haller moved to Ajax in the 2020/21 season. For the Eredivise giants, Haller was brilliant as he scored 47 goals in 66 games.
During his time at Ajax, Haller caught the eyes of Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.
He joined Dortmund in 2022, and without even appearing for the German giants, he was diagnosed with a testicular tumour.
Now, after a poor time with Dortmund, he joined FC Utrecht on loan in 2024 on loan.
And, now, after playing 116 games for the Dutch side and scoring 57 goals, Haller makes his move to Utrecht permanent.
