Brentford are already preparing for life without one of their key attackers.
Manchester United are deep in talks to sign Bryan Mbeumo.
The Red Devils want him in the squad before heading off on their preseason tour of the United States.
With that deal moving forward, Brentford have turned their attention to potential replacements.
They are not wasting time. The recruitment team has already shortlisted names that could come in and make an impact right away. One player, in particular, has caught their eye.
Young, exciting, and already gaining Premier League experience, this winger could be the ideal fit for the system Thomas Frank created and Keith Andrews could take it forward.
He played over 2,600 minutes in the top flight last season.
He featured 31 times in the Premier League, starting regularly for a side that did not do well.
He also managed to score three goals and assisted twice. The numbers may not jump off the page, but his overall game showed signs of something bigger.
Also, he was one of the stand out performers for a team that failed to survive in the top flight of English football.
He is quick on the ball, sharp in transition, and not afraid to take risks. Coaches have praised his mentality and hunger to improve.
However, Brentford have not yet contacted the player’s club. But that could change soon if United get the Mbeumo deal done.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Brentford’s admiration for Omari Hutchinson and their interest in bringing him to West London.
The 21-year-old spent the season with Ipswich Town after moving from Chelsea.
His performances have not gone unnoticed. Brentford believe he has the talent to fill the Mbeumo-sized hole, if it comes to that.
No bid yet. No formal talks. But Brentford are watching closely.
And if Mbeumo leaves, Hutchinson might be next to walk through the doors at the Gtech Community Stadium.
