Chelsea have made progress in their pursuit of Lamine Camara as they continue working on midfield additions before the transfer deadline.
The Blues are managing a busy final phase of the window after several departures and incoming deals across Xabi Alonso’s squad.
Marc Guiu has joined RB Leipzig, while Tottenham Hotspur have agreed deals for Mykhailo Mudryk and Tosin Adarabioyo.
David Datro Fofana and Caleb Wiley have also left, while Robert Sanchez has been linked with a move to Como.
Chelsea’s midfield planning has become particularly important because Manchester City are pushing to sign Enzo Fernandez.
The Argentine has reportedly agreed personal terms with City, while Chelsea want a replacement before sanctioning his departure.
Camara has subsequently emerged as one of the Blues’ leading options alongside Roma midfielder Manu Kone.
According to Graeme Bailey, Lamine Camara has agreed personal terms with Chelsea ahead of a possible move from Monaco.
A five-year contract is now in place between Chelsea and the 22-year-old midfielder.
Chelsea have also submitted an opening offer to Monaco, although the Ligue 1 club rejected that proposal.
The Blues’ initial bid was below Monaco’s €60 million valuation, but negotiations between the clubs are continuing.
Camara remains keen on completing a move to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea attempt to reach an agreement over the transfer fee.
Chelsea had earlier submitted a €45 million (£38.5 million) proposal, which Monaco considered insufficient.
Talks had previously slowed over agent fees, but Chelsea have since accelerated discussions and Camara has emerged as a top target.
The Blues are also exploring a deal for Kone, although Roma have shown resistance to allowing the midfielder to leave.
Chelsea therefore continue working on multiple midfield options while Fernandez’s proposed move to Manchester City remains unresolved.
With personal terms now agreed, their pursuit of Camara has taken an important step forward as negotiations with Monaco continue.
