Chelsea have made several changes under Xabi Alonso after reshaping their squad during the summer transfer window.
The Blues sold Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City for £124 million, while Nicolas Jackson and Marc Cucurella also departed Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea reinvested heavily, with Morgan Rogers arriving from Aston Villa for £120 million. Maxence Lacroix and Emiliano Martinez also strengthened Alonso’s squad.
Marco Palestra and Valentin Barco added further options, while Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson brought additional Premier League experience.
Alonso’s side have collected six points from their opening three league matches after victories over Fulham and Brighton.
Chelsea also beat Luton Town in the EFL Cup before recording a 6-3 victory against Leeds United in the third round.
Despite their summer activity, the Blues continue to assess potential additions for future transfer windows.
Their attention has now turned towards South America, where they have continued tracking one of Boca Juniors’ young players.
According to El Crack Deportivo, Chelsea are considering a move for Boca Juniors attacking midfielder Tomas Aranda at the beginning of 2027.
The Blues could offer up to €12.8 million (£11.1 million), although Boca have not received a formal proposal.
Aranda recently fractured his right fibula during training and required surgery. The injury will keep the 19-year-old out for the remainder of 2026.
Chelsea had already tracked Aranda before the injury and continue to follow his recovery as they consider their next move.
The midfielder has made 32 senior appearances for Boca, registering one goal and three assists. His current contract runs until December 2029.
Previous reports have placed Aranda’s release clause at around €17 million (£14.7 million), above the figure Chelsea are considering.
Boca president Juan Roman Riquelme and manager Rodolfo Arruabarrena want Aranda to remain at the club following his rehabilitation.
Aston Villa, Inter Milan, Como and Fiorentina are also following the youngster as Chelsea consider an approach at the beginning of 2027.
