After winning the FIFA Club World Cup, Chelsea are looking to make a statement in the transfer market.

Before the final against PSG, nobody gave Chelsea a chance. However, Cole Palmer and the new signing Joao Pedro turned the tables for the Blues.

So far, Chelsea have been quite active in the market. They have signed Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Jamie Gittens.

Now, they want to bring in a player who will give Chelsea that cutting edge in the midfield.

The Blues already have a crowded midfield. Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, and Cole Palmer have been regular starters for Chelsea.

But Enzo Maresca wants to bring in another player who can give strong competition to these players.

After winning the Club World Cup, Maresca now wants to challenge for the Premier League title.

He also wants Chelsea to fight for the Champions League and not just participate in it.

That is why if the Blues want to go deep into the season while remaining in all major competitions, they need squad depth.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Chelsea have set their sight on Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez.

The 22-year-old is looking for a new challenge. However, Barcelona are not ready to sell him.

But, Chelsea are known to place offers that clubs find hard to reject.

For Fermin Lopez, Chelsea are reportedly ready to pay in excess of €50 million.

Barcelona are walking on a tight rope when it comes to their financial situation.

They couldn’t guarantee Nico Williams that they would be able to register him.

That is why he chose to renew his contract with Athletic Club.

With such a staggering offer on the table, Barcelona will be forced to think about their decision.

If Chelsea can sign Fermin Lopez, it will be a statement signing from the London side for sure.
