On Monday evening, the summer transfer window closed for English Premier League clubs, and for most of Europe.

Nevertheless, there will still be people working behind the scenes ahead of the winter transfer window and even next summer.

One club that have built a reputation for buying several players in recent years are Chelsea.

Whether it be stars for the first team such as Cole Palmer, or stars for the future such as Kendry Paez.

This summer their key signings included Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Alejandro Garnacho.

Now, they are already planning their number one target for the summer of 2026.

TBR Football report that Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa is Chelsea’s prime transfer target for next year.

Recruitment chief Joe Shields was previously at Manchester City and recruited Rogers back in 2020.

Their report suggests that until the final few days of the window, Chelsea were trying to sign the Villa forward.

During his time at City, Rogers struck a partnership and friendship with Palmer.

In fact, the Chelsea star’s “ice cold” celebration came from Rogers himself.

No doubt the idea of linking up together at senior level will be hard to resist.

This certainly feels like one that will not go away anytime soon.

Especially with the World Cup next year, this will be a huge season for Rogers.

He is currently in the squad for World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia over the next week.
