Now the dust has settled, it looks to be a season of steady improvement for Chelsea.
With a Europa Conference League final to look forward to on Wednesday, Enzo Maresca will be keen to complete the European triple crown for The Blues along with a 4th place finish.
This season Chelsea have sometimes found goals harder to come from, following Cole Palmer’s loss of form since January.
Only Palmer and Nicolas Jackson have reached double figures for league goals for the Blues this season with 15 and 10 respectively.
Fans have been desperate for the club to sign a clinical centre forward who can rival the top strikers in the league.
Chelsea arguably haven’t found their replacement to Diego Costa following his exit in 2017, with strikers like Alvaro Morata, Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner majorly flopping in West London.
Could all this, however be about to change?
It has been reported by German football writer Seb Stafford-Bloor from The Athletic, that Chelsea are interested in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike.
The french forward has been valued at €100m, but Chelsea are eager to move quickly this summer, and secure their summer transfer business as quickly as possible.
With many top clubs targeting a number 9 this summer, Maresca will be keen to snap up one of Europe’s hottest talents quickly ahead of pre-season.
French striker Ekitike has scored 15 goals in 30 league games for Frankfurt this season.
Following Omar Marmoush’s arrival at Manchester City in January, Chelsea will be looking for a similar level of impact to their frontline from the Frankfurt star.
Hugo Ekitike would become Chelsea’s most expensive arrival at the club since Moises Caicedo arrived from Brighton in 2023 for $116m.
Is he the ready-made upgrade on Nicolas Jackson that can fire the west Londoners to a potential title challenge?
