Chelsea make new plan to complete Alex Scott deal

Alex Scott was another player Chelsea pursued during the summer.

Chelsea have already started planning another attempt to strengthen Xabi Alonso’s midfield after their difficult end to the summer window.

The Blues sold Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City for £125 million on deadline day. His departure left Chelsea searching for a replacement before the market closed.

Chelsea subsequently tried to sign Lamine Camara from Monaco, but the proposed transfer collapsed late in the window.

Alex Scott was another player Chelsea pursued during the summer. Bournemouth rejected an offer worth more than £60 million and maintained that the midfielder was not for sale.

The Blues made further contact on deadline day but received the same response. However, their interest has remained intact following the closure of the window.

According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are now considering an agreement that would secure Scott before he moves to Stamford Bridge next summer.

The plan would involve negotiating with Bournemouth in advance rather than attempting to complete Scott’s transfer during the January window.

Chelsea currently regard the 23-year-old as their primary midfield target. They believe his profile makes him the best fit for Alonso’s plans.

Scott’s contract situation could also become important during negotiations. His current Bournemouth deal expires in 2028.

The midfielder has rejected several offers to extend his contract despite Bournemouth’s attempts to secure his long-term future.

Bournemouth have even proposed new terms containing a potential release clause. However, Scott has still declined to sign an extension.

Chelsea believe that situation could eventually provide an opportunity to reach an agreement. Bournemouth currently have no intention of selling Scott in January.

Therefore, Chelsea could instead try to negotiate a deal that keeps him at Bournemouth for the remainder of the campaign.

Any agreement would still need to satisfy Bournemouth, who could otherwise enter next summer with Scott approaching his final contract year.

Chelsea also retain an interest in Camara and continue to assess other midfield options. However, Scott remains their primary target as the Blues explore a different route towards completing his transfer.
