Atletico Madrid have already enjoyed a busy summer as Diego Simeone prepares for another demanding campaign.
The club moved quickly to strengthen key areas of the squad after last season’s challenges in Spain and Europe.
Alejandro Grimaldo arrived from Bayer Leverkusen to bolster the defence, while Morten Hjulmand joined to reinforce midfield options.
Atletico have also worked hard to retain important players despite growing interest from elsewhere.
The club rejected approaches for Julian Alvarez and have progressed talks to sign Lee Kang-in from Paris Saint-Germain.
Even so, Simeone continues to look for further improvements in attacking areas before the window closes.
Meanwhile, Raphinha enters the summer after a frustrating campaign with Barcelona and Brazil.
Injuries disrupted much of his domestic season and restricted his impact during the World Cup in North America.
Despite those setbacks, the winger still showed his quality when available and remained an important figure for Hansi Flick.
According to El Nacional, Simeone has asked Atletico Madrid to remain alert to any opportunity to sign Raphinha from Barcelona.
The report states that the Argentine manager believes the Brazilian would fit perfectly into his high-intensity style of football.
Simeone also values attackers who maintain their intensity throughout matches and contribute in every phase of play.
Barcelona are not actively looking to sell the Brazilian international this summer. However, the arrival of new attacking options and the club’s need to generate funds could alter the situation.
Any deal would be difficult because Barcelona would not welcome strengthening a direct rival in La Liga.
Raphinha also remains under contract until 2028 and would command a significant fee if negotiations ever progressed.
For now, Atletico simply want to ensure they are ready if an opportunity emerges later in the window.
