Mohamed Salah brought an incredible chapter to an end when he left Liverpool this summer. The Egyptian forward departed Anfield after nine memorable years with the club.
During that period, he established himself as one of Liverpool’s greatest-ever players. Salah scored 257 goals in 442 appearances for the Reds.
He also helped the club win nine major trophies, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.
Now a free agent, the 33-year-old faces one of the biggest decisions of his career. Several clubs have already emerged as potential destinations.
Many expected Salah to move to the Saudi Pro League. However, a surprise European option has now entered the spotlight.
Reports suggest Turkish giants Fenerbahce are pushing to sign the Egyptian superstar. The interest first emerged during the club’s recent presidential election.
Candidate Aziz Yildirim publicly discussed a possible move for Mohamed Salah. Speaking during the campaign, he revealed the scale of the deal required. He said (via Football365):
“He would ask for a three-year contract, and the total cost would be 90 million Euros. If he is our urgent need, we will sign him! Our football committee will decide on these matters.”
Following the election, optimism around the deal appears to have increased. Former Fenerbahce board member Ertan Torunogullari has now claimed discussions with Salah were extremely positive.
He revealed that both parties found common ground on several key aspects of a potential agreement.
“He (Salah) was very keen on coming to Turkey. The meetings he had with us were extremely positive. We had established common ground with him on many issues, including his salary.
“If the new administration makes such a request, I believe Salah will wear the Fenerbahce jersey. We would gladly work with the new administration on negotiations.”
Fenerbahce already boast several high-profile names in their squad. Players such as Ederson, N’Golo Kante, Marco Asensio, Fred, and Matteo Guendouzi currently play for the Turkish side.
Adding Salah would represent one of the biggest signings in the club’s history.
