Bruno Fernandes remains central to Manchester United‘s plans after another outstanding season at Old Trafford.
The Portugal international produced nine goals and a Premier League-record 21 assists during the 2025/26 campaign.
His performances helped United secure a top-three finish and return to Champions League football under Michael Carrick.
Fernandes also collected the FWA Footballer of the Year award after establishing himself as United’s creative leader.
His form naturally attracted attention ahead of the summer transfer deadline. Galatasaray emerged as one of the clubs pushing hardest to sign the Manchester United captain.
The Turkish champions explored a move after other European and Saudi clubs also showed interest earlier this summer.
However, United have maintained a firm position throughout the speculation.
Fabrizio Romano has now provided a major update on the midfielder’s future at Old Trafford.
According to Romano, Manchester United consider Fernandes untouchable and have no intention of selling him this summer.
The club rejected interest from Galatasaray and other potential suitors before the new season.
Fernandes also remains happy at Manchester United and wants to continue leading the team in the Champions League.
His overseas release clause expired earlier in the summer transfer window, strengthening United’s control over his immediate future.
Romano also confirmed that Manchester United are negotiating a new contract with their captain.
Those discussions could prove important as the club looks to secure one of its most influential players for the long term.
Fernandes has repeatedly attracted interest from major clubs because of his performances and importance to United.
However, Manchester United have now made their position clear. They expect Fernandes to remain at Old Trafford this season while contract negotiations continue behind the scenes.
The latest update significantly reduces the chances of a late transfer before the summer window closes.
Sacha Tavolieri also recently revealed that Bruno Fernandes has rejected the latest offer from Manchester United
