It is yet another season of disappointment for Turkish side Fenerbahçe.

They finished in second place once again, marking the fourth time in a row they have been Süper Lig runners up.

After winning the Turkish cup in the 2022/23 season, they earned 99 points in the following league campaign.

However, Galatasaray finished with 102 points in the same league table.

Reminiscent of Liverpool’s 97 points and Premier League runners up finish in 2019, this was the hardest pill to swallow for Fenerbahçe fans.

Despite the points total, İsmail Kartal left the club and was replaced by Premier League great José Mourinho.

Despite Fenerbahçe obtaining 84 points in 2024/25, they were nowhere near Galatasaray, who finished with 95.

They will hope that they can make the jump up and win their first league title since 2014 in 2025/26.

So far in the summer transfer window, Fenerbahçe have signed former Manchester United loanee Sofyan Amrabat.

They could be about to sign another player to have put on the red shirt at Old Trafford.

Fenerbahçe make surprise move for Manchester United winger

It is reported that Fenerbahçe have made an enquiry about Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho.

After a loan spell with Chelsea, he is back in Manchester.

There are no signs that he is going to get back into the first team under Amorim.

Given how the former Sporting Lisbon manager dealt with Marcus Rashford, a player with equal off the field concerns to that of Sancho, it is hard to see a player who has done less in a Man United shirt put back into the first team.

The former Watford and Manchester City youth product shined with Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.

His £73 million move to the red half of Manchester did not go to plan at all.

He recored just 12 goals and six assists in 83 appearances in all competitions.

A loan move to Chelsea did nothing to improve his stock, despite a goal in the UEFA Conference League final win over Real Betis.

This is despite a successful loan spell back at Dortmund as they reached the Champions League final at Wembley in 2024.

It is clear that his best performances come outside of England.

A move to Turkey could be just what the 25-year old needs to rediscover his form.
