An understandable choice

It has been an eventful start to life back in the Premier League for Burnley.

On the opening day they lost 3-0 to Tottenham Hotspur, and last weekend they lost 3-2 to Manchester United with a last minute winner.

However, in between that, they pulled off an impressive 2-0 win at home to fellow promoted side Sunderland.

Scott Parker’s side were always going to be up against it this season.

Goalkeeper James Trafford left to return to Manchester City, whilst CJ Egan-Riley left on a free for Marseille.

Both were crucial parts of The Clarets conceding just 16 goals in 46 league games last season.

Another player who left, also on a free, was midfielder Josh Brownhill.

The 29-year old scored 18 goals and provided six assists from midfield during promotion.

All for a team who scored 69 goals last season – 26 fewer than Leeds who finished on the same points.

Two fewer than 13th place Norwich.

Many wondered where Brownhill would go, with Leicester City, Bristol City and Wolves amongst those linked.

However, it looks like it will be much further from home.

Sky Sports are reporting that he is set to join Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab.

They state that he is set to earn more than £100,000 pounds week over there – which will be tax free.

Although the standard of football is a lot worse, that is a life changing amount of money.

Sure, he will be pretty set up from his previous contracts in England, but they will have been nothing like this.

Two years over there would make sure his kids and maybe even grandkids never have to work.

He can make sure the elders in his family can happily retire. Family comes before football.

You can’t blame him for this decision.
