Marc Guehi has become one of the most talked-about defenders in English football.

The Crystal Palace captain was at the centre of transfer drama on the deadline day when a potential move to Liverpool collapsed late on.

Despite the setback, his future continues to dominate headlines, and the next step in his career could be decisive.

At 25, Guehi has already made more than 100 Premier League appearances. Since joining Palace from Chelsea in 2021, he has grown into a leader.

His contract runs until 2026, but reports suggest he has no intention of renewing, which opens the door for a big move.

Transfer News Live earlier revealed Liverpool’s strong interest, and the Merseyside club came very close to signing him on deadline day.

But Palace stood firm. Chairman Steve Parish refused to let go of his captain without securing a replacement.

Coach Oliver Glasner even warned the board he would walk away if Guehi was sold without cover.

That stand-off left the defender frustrated, especially after agreeing terms with Liverpool.

Now, as per ESPN, another club has entered the picture. Real Madrid are seriously weighing up an approach for the England international.

With recurring injuries to Éder Militão and Antonio Rüdiger, the Spanish side see Guehi as an ideal fit for Xabi Alonso’s project.

Madrid also view this as a strategic move. By moving early, they can outpace Liverpool, who may need to wait until 2026 to return for him.

Reports suggest Madrid could consider an offer in January, though they also have Ibrahima Konate on their list.

For Crystal Palace, the coming months will be a test of resolve. Guehi has grown restless, and if he maintains his decision not to renew, pressure to sell will only increase.

For Real Madrid, this could be an opportunity too good to pass up.
