Liverpool are scouting the market to find a suitable replacement for Mohamed Salah. The winger could leave Anfield next summer, with Al-Ittihad already advancing to seal the deal.
The Egyptian played a key role in helping Liverpool secure their 20th top-flight league title and 2nd Premier League title. However, his future is no longer secure at Anfield.
And the main reason for that is the drop in performance. Salah’s output has reduced significantly in the past few months.
He also lost his place in the team because of that. Apart from that, Liverpool are having a tough season. They were hoping to defend the Premier League title successfully.
That is why they invested heavily in their squad by breaking the British transfer record twice. Now, they are preparing for a life without their most influential player in recent history.
And the Reds have set their sights on a Newcastle United star. However, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich are also closely following his situation.
Newcastle are having a tough season. Last year, they secured Champions League football. However, this season, it seems they might now feature in Europe next season.
That is why several top players from Eddie Howe’s squad could leave next season. There is already interest in Sandro Tonali from Arsenal.
Now, according to Football Insider, Liverpool could make a move for Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon.
Gordon has made 20 Premier League appearances this season and scored three goals, along with two assists. The Magpies signed him from Everton for £45million in 2023.
Newcastle United will be asking for an important fee because of how Alexander Isak’s transfer transpired last summer.
Also, Gordon has a contract with Newcastle until 2029. Moreover, the bookies have made Liverpool the favourites to sign the former Everton player.
So, it will be interesting to see what happens with Anthony Gordon next summer, as several top European clubs will be eyeing a move.
