Liverpool enjoyed a fantastic transfer window in the summer. However, this January transfer window is getting from bad to worse for the Reds.
Last summer, they came so close to signing Marc Guehi. But this January, they have gone far, far away from the player, as the England international chose a different route for himself.
Guehi decided to join Manchester City instead of Liverpool. This is the second big blow for the Reds in the hands of the Citizens in January.
The Reds also wanted to sign Antoine Semenyo as the successor of Mohamed Salah. However, the Ghana international decided to join Manchester City as well.
Now, Liverpool will have to recover from these setbacks and try to focus on other transfer targets they might have on their list.
It is true that the Reds are quite shallow in the back. That is why they needed to sign a defender. So, next summer, signing a defender will be at the top of their list.
Now, they are already scouting the market to find ideal alternatives. And, according to TEAMtalk, they have already set their sights on two players.
The first name is Alessandro Bastoni from Inter Milan. As per the report, the Italian is looking for a new challenge at the age of 26. So, he will be looking for a move.
Also, Inter Milan are happy with the player, but they will not resist a move. Now, the second player Liverpool have identified is Nico Schlotterbeck from Borussia Dortmund.
Now, the German international has become a target for many European giants. So, Liverpool will have to act fast if they want to sign him.
Otherwise, what happened with the Semenyo and Guehi deals, the same thing could happen, as many clubs are targeting these two players.
