Liverpool make contact to sign AC Milan star

AC Milan are not under immediate pressure to sell.

Liverpool are rebuilding under Andoni Iraola after a difficult 2025-26 campaign.

The Reds finished fifth in the Premier League after an injury-hit season that also saw several key departures.

Since arriving at Anfield, Iraola has started reshaping his squad with the signings of Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz.

Liverpool also remain in the market for more reinforcements as they continue talks for Bradley Barcola and monitor other targets.

Strengthening the defence is another priority before the transfer window closes.

According to TuttoJuve, Liverpool have made initial contact with AC Milan over a move for Fikayo Tomori.

The report claims the discussions remain at an early stage, with no advanced negotiations or formal offer.

Instead, Liverpool have opened exploratory talks to assess whether a deal would be possible this summer. Iraola wants another experienced centre-back to strengthen his options.

Tomori has emerged as one of the names under consideration because of his pace and defensive qualities.

Liverpool are now weighing up the potential cost of a transfer before deciding whether to step up their interest. AC Milan are not under immediate pressure to sell.

The England international remains under contract until 2027, leaving the Italian club in a strong negotiating position. Newcastle United are also interest in signing Tomori this summer.

However, the report adds that Milan could reconsider Tomori’s future if contract renewal talks fail to progress over the coming months.

Liverpool will continue assessing their defensive options before making their next move. Tomori is not the only player on the club’s shortlist.

But the initial contact suggests he has become a serious candidate as Iraola looks to add more experience to his back line before the new Premier League season begins.
