Liverpool plan blockbuster Vinicius Junior move

Real Madrid still want to secure the 25-year-old to a new agreement.

Liverpool have entered a major rebuilding period following a disappointing 2025–26 campaign and the departure of Arne Slot.

The Reds finished fifth in the Premier League before appointing Andoni Iraola as their new head coach.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah’s departure has created a major vacancy in attack. Liverpool have already signed Victor Munoz from Osasuna for £34.5M, but Iraola still wants another wide attacker.

The Reds have also agreed a £55M deal for Jeremy Jacquet, while Bradley Barcola has emerged as another attacking target.

However, Liverpool are now considering an even bigger move as they plan the long-term shape of their attack.

According to Spanish journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon, Liverpool have shown concrete interest in signing Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior.

The Brazilian enjoyed another productive campaign last season. He scored 16 La Liga goals and provided five assists for Real Madrid.

Moreover, Vinicius added five goals and six assists in the Champions League before representing Brazil at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He scored four goals and provided one assist across five World Cup appearances. However, Brazil suffered elimination against Norway in the Round of 16.

Vinicius now faces uncertainty over his long-term future at Real Madrid because his current contract expires in 2027.

Negotiations over an extension have encountered difficulties, potentially creating an opportunity for interested clubs.

Ramon Alvarez de Mon claims Vinicius’ representatives have explored the positions of possible suitors in the Premier League.

Liverpool responded positively to those initial enquiries, but the financial conditions currently make a move in 2027 more attractive. Alvarez de Mon said:

“The numbers worked out for 2027. That club is Liverpool.”

Therefore, the Reds are looking at the possibility of signing Vinicius on a free transfer when his Real Madrid contract expires next summer.

However, Real Madrid still want to secure the 25-year-old to a new agreement.

For now, though, Liverpool have positioned themselves among the clubs interested in his future as they search for an elite winger following Salah’s departure.
