Liverpool plan hijack move for £34M PSG target

Liverpool could potentially disrupt Paris Saint-Germain’s plans.

Liverpool are preparing for a new era after enduring a hugely disappointing 2025/26 campaign under former manager Arne Slot.

The Reds finished fifth in the Premier League with 60 points and also struggled in domestic cup competitions.

Moreover, their Champions League campaign ended with a heavy 4-0 aggregate quarter-final defeat against Paris Saint-Germain.

Consequently, Liverpool appointed Andoni Iraola as their new head coach and started making significant changes to the squad.

Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate all departed on free transfers during a major summer overhaul.

Meanwhile, Liverpool strengthened their squad by signing Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes for £60M and Victor Munoz from Osasuna for around £35M.

However, Salah’s departure has left the Reds needing another wide attacking option ahead of the new campaign.

Iraola has already confirmed that Liverpool “definitely need to sign a winger” as the club continue exploring the transfer market.

Now, Liverpool could potentially disrupt Paris Saint-Germain’s plans by moving for one of the French club’s prime transfer targets.

According to Sky Sports News journalist Lyall Thomas, Liverpool have made an initial approach to Monaco for Maghnes Akliouche.

The Reds have checked on the potential availability of the 24-year-old France international as they assess their attacking options.

Akliouche enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 campaign for Monaco, scoring six goals and providing six assists across 31 Ligue 1 appearances.

Furthermore, he contributed one goal and three assists from 10 Champions League matches during another productive campaign.

His performances also earned him a place in France’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

However, Liverpool face significant competition because PSG have already made several attempts to secure his signature.

PSG consider Akliouche a prime target and have submitted multiple offers, but Monaco have rejected every proposal so far.

Their most recent offer is believed to have been worth around £34M (€40M).

For now, the Reds have checked Akliouche’s availability as Iraola looks to strengthen his attacking options following Salah’s departure.
