Liverpool plan move for €60M defender from Bundesliga

Liverpool’s recruitment department are already monitoring.

Liverpool will be looking to sort out their defensive issues in the transfer market this summer. The Reds had a fantastic transfer window last summer.

But they failed miserably on the pitch. As a result, they barely secured a spot in the Champions League next season.

The club moved aggressively in the market to strengthen key positionslast summer.

Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Giovanni Leoni, and Georgi Mamardashvili have all arrived as part of Liverpool’s broader long-term strategy.

However, questions still remain regarding the future of several experienced defenders at the club.

Ibrahima Konate is now set to leave the club, and a Premier League club are planning a move for the French international.

Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are both contracted until 2027. Still, uncertainty continues surrounding whether Liverpool will eventually extend those deals.

As a result, Liverpool’s recruitment department are already monitoring possible long-term defensive solutions for the coming years.

Interestingly, one option could involve a player who previously emerged through the club’s own academy system before leaving Anfield last summer.

According to BILD, Liverpool inserted a buy-back clause into Jarell Quansah’s move to Bayer Leverkusen, allowing the club to potentially re-sign the defender in the future.

Quansah left Liverpool in search of regular first-team football after completing a £35 million move to Leverkusen.

The 23-year-old has since established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most reliable defenders.

The report states that Liverpool had an €80 million buy-back option available this summer. However, the clause will reportedly reduce to €60 million in 2027.

Quansah’s performances in Germany have significantly enhanced his reputation across Europe.

Meanwhile, his progress has earned him a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the upcoming World Cup.

Now, it will be interesting to see whether Liverpool decides to bring back Jarell Quansah to Anfield in the coming years.
