Liverpool are reportedly preparing to make a major statement in the transfer market, with plans to launch a €100 million move for a player who can replace Mohamed Salah at Anfield.
The Reds are having a disappointing season. They were dreaming of retaining the Premier League this season after making statement signings like Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak.
However, it is fair to say that both players are yet to hit the ground running. And, on top of that, their costliest signing, Alexander Isak, is injured and will be out for a long time.
Yet, the biggest blow for Liverpool came this season when Mohamed Salah gave that explosive interview. Now, it is certain that his exit from Anfield is only a matter of time.
That is why Liverpool are looking to find a suitable replacement. It seems they have found one in Ligue 1.
Reportedly, the French winger Liverpool are targeting is open to a new challenge. And the Premier League is emerging as a serious option.
According to Fichajes, Liverpool are considering a formal approach for Bradley Barcola this month to test PSG’s resolve.
Despite featuring regularly under Luis Enrique, Barcola is said to be frustrated with his role in Paris, particularly due to his lack of guaranteed starts and frequent positional changes.
Moreover, the arrival of Desire Doue has added further competition, forcing rotation and limiting Barcola’s opportunities on his preferred left flank.
Liverpool view Barcola as a long-term attacking investment and, crucially, as a future successor to Mohamed Salah.
As a result, the Reds are reportedly willing to go as high as €100 million to push the deal forward. However, PSG are unlikely to make things easy.
Therefore, unless Barcola actively pushes for a move, any January deal would be difficult to complete.
