Liverpool began their 2026–27 Premier League campaign with a difficult 2–2 draw away against Newcastle United.
Andoni Iraola’s side needed a stoppage-time Dominik Szoboszlai penalty after Cody Gakpo had earlier found the net.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are working to complete further transfer business before the summer window closes on September 1.
The Reds have already strengthened several areas by signing Jeremy Jacquet, Victor Munoz and teenager Ifeanyi Ndukwe.
Liverpool also added Ronald Araujo on loan, while Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konate and Andrew Robertson departed Anfield.
However, their biggest transfer pursuit remains focused on bringing Bradley Barcola to Merseyside before the deadline.
The French winger has already reached an agreement in principle with Liverpool and wants to move to Anfield.
Arsenal and Atletico Madrid have also made enquiries, but Barcola’s position regarding Liverpool has remained unchanged.
Paris Saint-Germain initially demanded around €170 million (£145 million), creating a considerable obstacle during negotiations.
According to TEAMtalk, PSG have now lowered Bradley Barcola’s asking price to around €140 million (£120 million).
That represents a 17.2% reduction from their original valuation and gives Liverpool renewed encouragement over completing the transfer.
The Reds are now increasingly confident of reaching an agreement after discussions between the clubs continued throughout the month.
The revised figure would also allow Liverpool to complete the deal without breaking their existing club transfer record.
Liverpool have since moved away from Ibrahim Mbaye because PSG’s €70 million valuation exceeds their own assessment.
Instead, the Reds continue pursuing Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh after already seeing two offers rejected for him.
The Reds therefore remain optimistic about reshaping their attacking options, with Barcola still central to their late-window plans.
