At a time when top clubs across Europe are preparing for major overhauls, one Premier League side has made its stance crystal clear.
Liverpool, fresh off their Premier League title win, are not ready to let go of one of their most electrifying attackers so easily.
Interest from abroad has been brewing for weeks. With the summer window heating up, clubs from La Liga to the Saudi Pro League have been circling.
The player in question is Luis Diaz. The Colombian winger has once again attracted significant attention after a strong season at Anfield, where his pace, trickery and work rate were central to Liverpool’s success.
According to The Athletic, Barcelona have already stepped forward. The Catalan giants made an approach to sign Diaz, hoping to add fresh energy to their wide options following a difficult campaign.
However, that effort was swiftly rejected by Liverpool, who remain determined to keep the 28-year-old at the club.
The report states that Liverpool have no intention of negotiating for Diaz this summer.
The club sees him as an important piece under new head coach Arne Slot and believe his best years are still ahead of him.
His ability to stretch defences, create space for others and contribute consistently in big matches is not something the Reds are willing to lose, not even for a hefty fee.
Barcelona’s interest is far from the only one on the table.
Diaz is also being considered by Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, where a potential link-up with former Liverpool star Sadio Mané and Cristiano Ronaldo is being explored. Still, Liverpool’s position remains firm.
With that avenue now blocked, Barcelona are reportedly turning their attention elsewhere, specifically towards Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford as they search for attacking reinforcements.
For now, though, Luis Diaz is staying put. And Liverpool, it seems, have no plans of letting him leave any time soon.
