Liverpool have reshaped their squad considerably during the summer transfer window under newly appointed head coach Andoni Iraola.
The Reds have strengthened with Jeremy Jacquet, Victor Munoz and Bradley Barcola, while several important players have departed.
Mohamed Salah has left the club, while Curtis Jones recently ended his 16-year association with his boyhood side.
Jones completed a permanent move to Inter Milan for €30 million, with another €5 million available through add-ons.
The 25-year-old entered the final year of his contract and wanted a more consistent central role elsewhere.
Liverpool initially planned to hand Trey Nyoni a more prominent first-team role following Jones’ departure from Anfield.
However, another midfield opportunity has now emerged as Liverpool consider further additions before the transfer window closes.
The Reds also started their Premier League campaign with a difficult 2-2 draw against Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
Dominik Szoboszlai rescued Liverpool with a late penalty after Newcastle had taken the lead twice earlier in the contest.
The performance showed attacking promise, but Iraola still has several tactical issues to address during the opening weeks.
According to Ben Jacobs, Liverpool and Chelsea have received the opportunity to sign Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara before the deadline.
Monaco will consider selling the Senegal international for the right price, although their current valuation remains unclear.
Crystal Palace have also shown interest in Camara and previously saw Monaco reject a formal offer this month.
Liverpool could now move for the 22-year-old after Jones’ departure reduced Iraola’s available options in central midfield.
Chelsea also have reasons to consider Camara as Manchester City continue talks over a potential move for Enzo Fernandez.
Camara enjoyed a strong campaign with Monaco and made 22 league starts, plus another two appearances from the bench.
Liverpool must now decide whether Camara represents the right replacement for Jones as Chelsea also consider a late move.
