Liverpool have entered a new era after a difficult 2025–26 campaign eventually brought Arne Slot’s time in charge to an end.
Andoni Iraola subsequently took charge and has overseen significant changes at Anfield during his first summer as Liverpool manager.
Mohamed Salah, Andrew Robertson and Ibrahima Konate departed on free transfers, forcing Liverpool to reshape several important areas of their squad.
The Reds responded by signing highly rated French defender Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes and winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna.
Liverpool also strengthened their defence by bringing Ronald Araujo to Anfield on a season-long loan from Barcelona.
Their preparations concluded with a double-header against Como, including a 2-0 victory at Anfield before their Premier League opener against Newcastle United.
However, Liverpool could still sanction another significant departure before the summer transfer window closes.
According to TEAMtalk, Cody Gakpo has agreed personal terms with Tottenham Hotspur after Roberto De Zerbi convinced him about a move to north London.
The Tottenham manager has outlined an important role for Gakpo within his attack and also values his ability to operate centrally when required.
Gakpo endured a difficult Premier League campaign last season, scoring seven goals and providing five assists across 36 appearances.
However, the 27-year-old enjoyed a stronger World Cup with the Netherlands, registering three goals and one assist across four matches.
Tottenham are now preparing to make an official approach as they attempt to reach an agreement with Liverpool.
The Reds are willing to sell Gakpo. But they have no intention of accepting a significantly reduced fee for the Netherlands international.
Liverpool value the winger at more than £60 million. Also, they could demand as much as £70 million before sanctioning his departure.
Tottenham are prepared to move close to those demands. Spurs believe a package of around £65 million is potentially enough to secure an agreement.
Liverpool are also pursuing Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola as they continue reshaping their attacking options under Iraola.
