The youth academy at Barcelona continues to produce special players, and this time another name has entered the spotlight.
Clubs across Europe are aware of the talent developing at La Masia. Scouts are watching closely, hoping to find the next big star before rivals make a move.
Both Manchester City and Chelsea have been active in the youth market for years, investing heavily in players who could shape their long-term future.
City in particular have built a strong reputation for developing young players, under Pep Guardiola.
Their system allows prospects to grow under elite coaching before making the leap to senior football.
Chelsea, too, have reshaped their recruitment model under Enzo Maresca.
They are also signing promising talents early and giving them a platform in under-23 football before pushing them toward the Premier League.
This latest chase has brought focus on Dro Fernandez, according to Spanish sources. The 17-year-old midfielder has impressed with his intelligence on the ball and his ability to control play.
He is not yet a first-team regular, but his performances in Barcelona’s youth setup have made him stand out as one of the most exciting prospects in Spain.
Both Premier League clubs see him as an ideal fit. For City, he represents the type of creative midfielder who could flourish in Pep Guardiola’s system.
For Chelsea, he could become the next Cole Palmer and could play a vital role in their youth teams.
Barcelona, though, do not want to let him go. The club view Fernandez as an investment for the future, a player capable of stepping up to the senior side if his progress continues.
The coming months will be decisive. Fernandez and his family will weigh up whether staying in Barcelona provides the best chance of growth, or moving to England.
Either way, his next step could shape his career for years to come.
