FC Barcelona have kicked off their pre-season with a 3-1 win over Vissel Kobe.
Eric Garcia, Roony Bardghji, and Pedro Fernandez all got on the scoresheet. It was a lively start for Hansi Flick’s side, who are slowly shaping their squad for the 2025/26 campaign.
The club is stacked with young talent. Most of it has come straight from La Masia. But that also means there is too much competition for too few starting spots.
As a result, some players could be moved on. And big European clubs are eyeing a move for some Barcelona players who had a terrific season last year.
Under Hansi Flick, Barcelona won the domestic treble and reached the semi-finals, where they were beaten by an extra-time goal from Davide Frattesi.
The Cules already have a packed squad, and that is why they are looking to offload a few players as well to free up their wage bill and manage their books.
That is why, according to El Nacional, Manchester City are now planning a serious move for one of Barcelona’s brightest midfielders, Fermin Lopez. Pep Guardiola is ready to submit a €60 million bid.
Under Hansi Flick, the 22-year-old has played a bigger role. The German coach clearly rates him.
But with names like Pedri, Gavi, and Olmo also pushing for minutes, regular starts are far from guaranteed.
Now, City have entered the picture. It is not an easy squad to break into either, but the departure of Kevin De Bruyne has left a void in the midfield that Fermin Lopez can fill.
Also, the chance to work under Guardiola and fight for major titles can appeal to the Spaniard even more.
Barcelona ideally do not want to lose him. However, their finances are weak. That is why they failed to sign Nico Williams.
If Guardiola’s €60 million offer arrives, the ball will be in Barcelona’s court. It will be an offer that the Blaugrana might find hard to reject.
