There is a saying that all that glitters is not gold. And, the grass is not always greener on the other side. Liverpool fans will have these thoughts in mind after finding out who the player is.

Liverpool have done fantastic business this summer. They have been very active and signed most of their targets.

The Reds have signed Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Hugo Ekitike, and Giovanni Leoni. They also let Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, and Jarell Quansah leave.

Now, they are looking to get the deals of Alexander Isak and Mac Guehi over the line.

Also, they started their Premier League defence with back-to-back wins and Bournemouth and Newcastle United. So far, everything is going well for the Reds.

But the same is not true for a player who left Liverpool this summer. Trent Alexander-Arnold left for Real Madrid, and the Los Blancos paid £8.4m to get him out of his contract a month earlier.

Xabi Alonso wanted Alexander-Arnold before the Club World Cup. Things started decently for the English right-back. However, with the return of Dani Carvajal, things might change.

The Spaniard will play as the right-back under Xabi Alonso, and so, the Englishman might have to sit on the bench. It is something Trent didn’t expect when he signed for the Los Blancos.

That is why, according to Indy Kaila (via CaughtOffside), Trent Alexander-Arnold is eyeing a return to the Premier League. However, he is not a target for Liverpool anymore.

But the rivals of Liverpool are ready to pounce on the opportunity to sign him. Yes, Manchester City are eyeing a move for Alexander-Arnold.

Pep Guardiola is looking for a successor for Kyle Walker. So, if he can get Trent Alexander-Arnold, the English right-back will be the perfect replacement.
